Lake James State Park and Campground
Owls historically were a mysterious creature that was heard at night and rarely seen. Come unravel some of the mysteries of these birds of prey with Ranger Wade Engels as he leads a guided hike discussing the different species within North Carolina and their habitats. Afterwards the group will explore the owl’s digestive tract through dissecting owl pellets. The hike will begin at the Catawba River Area picnic shelter at 9 a.m. Dissecting equipment and gloves will be provided for the owl pellets.
