Historic Carson House

Emma Rankin's Story is interpreted through this re-enactment of the April 19, 1865 Stoneman's Raid on Historic Carson House.   The Civil War neared its end, a band of General George Stoneman’s Union Calvary led an attack on the estate of Jonathan Logan Carson. His wife, Mary Carson, their two daughters, and resident schoolteacher, Emma Rankin, withstood the onslaught. The fearless stance of these women helped save the house from being burned.  Experience life as a Civil War soldier and see what took place on this very spot in the spring of 1865. The event is hosted by the 22nd N.C., Co. K re-enactors and SCV Camp 379. For more information, email [email protected]
