Updates and Opening Schedules for the Blue Ridge Parkway

The National Park Service plans to re-open the majority of the Blue Ridge Parkway on May 15th. In addition to the roadway, all trails will be open.

Visitor centers, restrooms, and other amenities will remain closed.  The link takes you to the National Park Service page detailing COVID-19 policies, closures, re-opening plans, and more. https://www.nps.gov/blri/learn/news/covid-5-8.htm

The U.S. Forest Service trails and campground closures are described online.  Not all trails are closed, however, before heading out please refer to this list.  Our trails are inside the Grandfather Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest.  https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd724787.pdf

Please explore responsibly, follow COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, pack in and out, practice good trail manners, bring snacks and beverages, whatever you need on the trail.  Local restaurants/bars remain closed, providing take out service only.  Area retailers may open at 50% capacity.

Plan ahead, be mindful of your fellow hikers and bikers, and check the links above for trail and driving updates.

Our visitor center remains closed to the public.  We are here to answer questions, call 828-668-4282.  Be safe, be happy, be well.
