Rain or shine, the Blue Ridge Mountains are simply spectacular. This photo was taken over the weekend, as we were enjoying a few sprinkles.
Leaves on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Linville Falls and Crabtree Falls are peaking now. It feels as though you're cruising on a long, winding driveway filled with a never ending canopy of red, yellow, and orange colors. Breathtaking and serene. North facing overlooks are at their peak color!
From the Parkway, the southern views are close to a 50% mix of green/orange/red/yellow colors. It may take another week for those to completely transform.
During fall leaf season, I-40 is gorgeous too! The drive between Exit 90 at Lake James and Exit 73 at Old Fort is amazing.
Local forecasters continue to predict elevations below the Blue Ridge Parkway will peak during the end of this week, possibly into the next week. You have time to make a get-away plan to the Blue Ridge. Click the "Stay" icon to find the perfect place!Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
