Father's Day Weekend and COVID-19 Updates

The weather forecast for the Father's Day Weekend is beautiful! If you're treating Dad to an outdoor weekend, we're sharing updates on facilities and conditions that may affect your visit.

Before driving to the Blue Ridge Parkway area, please read this list of updates for visitor centers, restrooms, campgrounds, picnic areas, and trails.  Most visitor centers and bathrooms remain closed, many trails, many picnic areas and campgrounds are open.  https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/hours.htm#CP_JUMP_5149341

The Grandfather Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest continues to change site availability.  This link takes you to their page providing information on primitive camping permits in the Linville Gorge.


There are NO open RESTROOMS on trails, campground areas, etc. within the Grandfather Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest.  Please, research area restrooms close to your destination.  Pack hand sanitizer, etc.  This page provides a list of items to pack in and out, as you prepare for your hike.  https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/nfsnc/alerts-notices/?aid=58689

North Carolina State Parks have re-opened the majority of their parks.  Check updates for hiking/mountain bike trails at Lake James State Park.  As of this writing, mountain bike trails and the swimming beach are closed.  Restrooms are open. https://www.ncparks.gov/lake-james-state-park/home

Restaurants, breweries, wineries, and most retail shops are open and operating safely at 50% capacity.  All of our lodging properties are open and everyone is practicing COVID-19 cleaning protocols plus state and federal safety guidelines.
