Fall Color Report - Week 3

This weekend, remnants of Hurricane Delta passed over western North Carolina. The morning was foggy, but the leaf colors are still beautiful.

Today's image was taken from the Blue Ridge Parkway's Bear Den Overlook, close to milepost 323. With cooler temperatures predicted for the weekend, the higher elevations between Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain should see peak color before Sunday.

The good news, our elevations vary greatly offering an extended leaf season.  Between Bear Den Overlook driving south on the Parkway to Little Switzerland, there were more green hues and fewer reds, yellows, and oranges. North facing views were colorful, overlooks exposing southern vistas exposed mountaintops dusted in reds and oranges with green mountainsides. Often, leaf shades change overnight, stay tuned!
